Mr and Mrs Smith

yeah, another movie review - but i expect to see several comments on this because i'm sure all of you will go catch it.

anyway, i LOVE it!!! Brad Pitt is besides the point for that goes without saying. but underneath the action and very funny dialogue, it actually portrayed a very real power struggle present in many relationships today, and of the final coming of age between the couple.

these days, women are no longer the submissive partner in a relationship (read Jane Smith asked 'why do i get the girlie gun?'). in many aspects, women can do as well, if not better than their male counterpart. so guys have to recognise that (fret not, i'm not a bra-burning feminist) and embrace this change. so, sorry dude, if the salt and pepper are right at the mid-point between you and me, u can get them yourself!! gone are the days when men talk, women listen. Instead, women now can only be excited if we meet a match - someone whom we can spar with and not feel intimidated. Winning is secondary, really.

John Smith lament that there was this space between them, filled with so many things they did not say to each other - the essence of communication. i won't say too much - you know what i mean....

as the chinese saying goes, no 2 tigers can live on the same mountain. when you put 2 people who are very good at a similar task together, who listens to who? Noticed how they still fought and argue with each other when the enemy first approached - a perfect partnership
is forged after many attempts (would you give up after a knife got lodge in your thigh?). Rome is not built in a day - what more an enduring relationship..... But when they realised they can complement each other and cover each others' back, the partnership becomes formidable (hence the 1-kill hundreds Rambo style shotout at the end).

you must think i am nuts - to have sooo much to say over a brad pitt-angelina Jolie action flick. but hey, this is different. trust me, there is more beyond the thunderous gunfire and violent sexual demonstrations. but then again, these 2 elements are very important.....
