CSI wannabe

it was a pleasant surprise to receive JL's call. come to think of it, despite knowing her for > 25 years (yeah, that's how long it really is), we've never really chatted. She was part of the 'popular' gang while i was the outcast.

When CH told me that she is now in Florida, i didn't really thought much about it. i mean, how would that help? she is married to some US navy guy and i cannot even remember when was the last time we saw each other.

but a delight it was, that when she called this afternoon, we actually chatted like never before. life hasn't been exactly kind to her in fact. a failed marriage that resulted in a son who is now 10 years old, diagnosed with cancer 2 years back which thankfully is under controlled now. but i think, she is beginning to see the light. Her current marriage seems happy, with a 17-mth old daughter as witness, and she is enroute to getting her bachelor's degree in finance.

again, she told me everything happened for a reason. before she hung up, she wanted me to know that even though we've not been in contact for the longest time, i still have a friend in her.

i am thankful. and i certainly hope she is right that everything happens for a damn good reason. i wish the best for her too.
