Thoughts after Pearl Habour
watched Pearl Habour (the movie) for the first time last evening on TV. good stuff.
7 Dec 1941, a day hard to be forgotten by many americans, young and old. exactly 2 months after, 8 Feb 1942, a day supposedly hard to be forgotten by singaporeans, young and old. But is it?
similar situation - attack by the japanese during WW II. many of my american friends were not even born. but yet, they know the humiliations and pain suffered by the country at that time. yes, we are talking about the early 20-somethings guys i met in school. on the other hand, how many of us felt the same strong sense of emotion when the famed '3 years and 8 mths' (under the japanese occupation) was mentioned?
was there something amiss in the history lessons we had back in school (or did we have history lessons at all?? geez....)
